I have never considered myself a writer...never had ambitions to that end of any sort, though I have always saw things that I thought were unique and fascinating, the sort of thing that you want to share with someone else, turn to someone and say "look !!!...how cool is that!!!??" but there was no one there...and that is the sole reason I have tried to put thoughts on paper or capture them with a camera over the years to only some avail.Today, however, after spending my first day as host at The Cozens Ranch Museum, I feel that my urge to write has been moved up several notches...I feel driven to post-or blog as it were...Interestingly, much of what is known about the ranch in it's heyday was gleaned from "Uncle Billy" Cozens' daughter Mary's slight journal or diary, written in every day save one over the course of just more than a year. When I first arrived in Grand County, Colorado in 1993 I was immediatly taken by this place that would become my "home of choice" and the county's unique and colorful history. I spent a most of my time studying up on the ranch, learning the layout of the museum, it's relationship with it's neighbors in the area, what was actually used in the home, how it changed over the years, etc. Some of this I remembered, most was ethier a forgotton memory brought back to the surface or just learned today. And so, even though I have been notoriously unreliable in the past at posting, I have an office with a computer at the museum that put down random thoughts and possibly find the time to put them together and post. Hopefully I will be adding posts weekly or more. And I can't wait 'till I get to share my first ghost sighting!
