I took Friday off...had a doctors appointment in Steamboat Springs. We made a weekend of it-"we" being Shirley, Ian, Halley, Evan and I-hopefully to get to spend some time with daughter Heather. We were able to spend most of Friday afternoon with her, bought her some groceries and took her out to lunch, and then dropped her off so she could catch up on her homework. After stopping by the condo we had rented and taking a quick swim we went back to pick Heather and meet Emily and Patrick for dinner up at the ski area. Dinner was nice, we ate at the Slopeside Grill. It was nice enough to eat outside. After dinner we took Heather home, and then went back to the condo and relaxed.
Saturday we got up and drove to Craig, supposedly to go to a thrift store that we never found. We did find thrift stores, enough to get burnt out on...! we then turned around and drove the fifty miles back to Steamboat...but not before stopping at one more thrift store-and a hot spring-dropped Evan off to take a nap, went miniature golfing, out to dinner, and then the kids and Shirley went swimming, and I stayed back and played a few tunes on my guitar. Sunday was uneventful, had breakfsast, and drove home. The "quakies" (aspens) as the oldtimers call 'em, were just past thier prime in color. Some had lost thier leaves completely where the wind blew stonger in some places. Others stood out like orange flames amoungst the lighter and fading yellows...Noah was glad to see us...and the cats were glad to see us with more cat food...another nice weekend in God's country...and as I write were getting our first snowfall...those quakies are mostly quiet, but very accurate at predicting the weather...
