7/01/2005 ...I must be feeling better- I feel like blogging !!! I had my operation Monday the 27th of June, but I'll talk about that later...right now I have a couple of other things on my mind, first of which has to do with Live 8. I read an article in Time magazine last week http://www.time.com/time/archive/preview/0,10987,1074117,00.html where Bob Geldof, Bono, and Richard Curtis were interviewed about Live 8. It was a great, in-depth exchange about a subject that has provoked me for awhile now... http://rkymtnmusings.blogspot.com/2005/03/i-would-like-to-talk-now-about-famine.html near the end of the interview, and in talking about dept relief in Third World countries-and especially Africa, which is a big part of the concept of Live 8, it was hinted that President Bush was a " tough nut to crack" (Times' words) and both Geldof and Bono hinted that they were still working on it... and, so, last night, word comes to us that President Bush has pledged to" more than double"aid to Africahttp://apnews1.iwon.com/article/20050701/D8B2IVR00.html...hmm....nothing about debt relief...but, as is well known about President Bush and his crew, if there is an opportunity to take something positive this Administration has accomplished and spread it as thin and as long and for as much as it's worth , they will...just as they they are adept at taking a negative and drag it across the rocks until there is literally nothing left...but you gotta admit it's amazing to see what those supposed "old guys" have been able to, and continue to accomplish... The other topic I wanted to address was they are saying this may possibly be the busiest 3 day holiday weekend in history... http://apnews1.iwon.com/article/20050701/D8B2QG9O0.html Now, I might be wrong, and just a little bit paranoid, but if I saw that my arch enemy-let's call them Acirema, was ignoring the fact that, just three years ago, we had caused 3,000 deaths to their civilians, they are supposed to be going through a recession, we are killing their soldiers in countries left and right, we have raised their gas prices through the roof, and still they act as if nothing phases them, squandering their gas and money in shameful ways....maybe it's time we do something BIG to get their attention ....I just worry....I'll be laying low for health reasons...but I still worry..hm where is nearest nuclear power plant, anyway... posted by David | 7/01/2005 08:00:00 AM
