9/05/2004 So...I read about two drunk guys in Georgia (U.S.) They left a bar because one of them was sick. These guys are old school buddies. So, while one guy is apparently leaning out the window puking, the other drunk guy-the driver-more or less, meanders of the road and clips a telephone pole guide wire-the only visible damage to his truck is that it took off his side mirror and, oh yeah, decapitated his best friend. He drove home and the next day a neighbor was walking by with his child in a stroller, saw the blood and decapitated body, and called the police. They police entered the house and found the young man asleep in his bloody clothes and still somewhat drunk. The famly of the deceased gentleman is pleading for mercy for the young man that was driving so he can get "the help he needs". Now, who can help the truck driver in North Carolina who parked his truck on an incline on the highway and walked to a popular restaraunt down the hill to place a to-go order. The trucks brakes failed and the truck careened into the drive-through and patio section of the restaraunt, almost running down the driver, wounding five people, including a 14 year-old pregnant girl (i'm sure that's a story in itself !) and pinning a lady to a car, killing her. Now, the reason I am writing this is that I slept in the car last night. Shirley got mad at me because I had a couple drinks while I was painting my bedroom, and she had family coming out from California. And she wanted the bathroom painted, instead. And we might run out of paint. So she got mad...threw me out. So I slept in the car. It rained all night...and thundered and lightning'd a lot and I didn't sleep too well- the headrest is hard plastic-made to protect you not to enjoy...but it wasn't that bad. I'm hungry and don't have any cash for breakfast, but the good news is I didn't wake up to find out that I decapitated my best friend, or run over someone with my car. I could use a shower...and a bite to eat..but I am so glad that my children weren't taken hostage and killed ...and that my house-which really isn't mine right now- wasn't decimated by a hurricane (but I'm still not sure I can get back into it !!!) It's all just relative...but I'm convinced-even under these circumstaces-that the glass is half full... posted by David | 9/05/2004 08:32:00 AM
