3/06/2004 The Queen is Dead !!!...long live The Queen!!! ...jeez, I'm almost embarrased to even talk about..well..who else ?! Martha !!! Just mentioning her name I feel like I'm adding to the abomination/combination... you know..the media..the mudslinging... a subject that almost everyone has an opinion-or at least feelings about, even if they can't quite sort them out. Me, I have no problem with that...( could you have guessed? he..he..) There is no loveloss between Ms. Stewart and I. I admit I only know what I read and see..(a sampling of other peoples' opinions...) But I think I know a bit about people, too, so I can throw that into the "concoction" that is my opinion. Do I think She is being used as a scapegoat from several different sources, hung out to dry? Yes, I do. Do I think (and have some admiration for) her creating a huge industry, bumped her head on the "glass ceiling" that has always seemed to have smothered most women's ability to reach as high as they would like in "Big Business", as well as ruffle some feathers up there...I do, and I believe she did... I do not condone the things that she was purported to have done, but I also believe this has been a witch-hunt of Salem proportions...and that heavy fines and probation would be an appropriate punishment. I will be the first to admit that I have a bit of contempt (read: jealosy) for folks that have more money that they quite know what to do with...There is always Oprah, who seems to have gotten into finding creative and convienent ways to give her's away...I guess the bottom line for me on Martha is: Shame on her for getting so uppity..you did well when you started reaching out (via K-Mart) to the common folks, but then you just got caught up in it all...I hope your successes continue to be an inspiration to women everywhere...and the punish ment for your mistakes is appropriate and lenient ...If that is possible... posted by David | 3/06/2004 12:30:00 PM |
