3/14/2004 Okay...I'm kinda havin'a problem sorting some of this out...finding sense is somehow a remote possibility... Now in Barstow, 15 contestants failed to win the first prize of a million dollars (U.S.) for building a robotically-driven vehicle and having it manuver across a specially designed course made to challenge abilities in terrain and navigation, etc. Now, these robo-vehicles were built by groups both public and private. For instance, one of the favorites was one who used a modified hummer, "Sandstorm", retrofitted by a team from Carnegie Mellon University. The route was 142 miles long, and the farthest traveled by any of them was 7 miles. Now contrast this with the news from Fresno...not too very far from Barstow, about a man who, somehow, unoticed, lined his living room with 10 coffins, had four wives, both fathered andimpregnated the same women, killed nine of his own children, wives, and children/wives... how can he be that ingenious-or lucky-or twisted to get away with this-for this to go on unoticed for anyamount of time is beyond my comprehension...and we don't have the ability to make a vehicle protect itself...much less protect a child... posted by David | 3/14/2004 02:15:00 PM |
