3/28/2004 I have to get quiet for a moment...hmmm...I have to do that a lot...the pause (...) I guess is to catch my breath...or is it my consciousness...the following article, originating in a Salt Lake City, Utah, paper interestingly enough, brought me to quiet... Killing will beget killing For the first time in history, a quadriplegic old blind man in a wheelchair who can barely speak or hear is considered a militant and a terrorist. And, also for the first time, the prime minister of a so-called democratic nation personally plans and oversees a cowardly attack on that person. When Ariel Sharon signed off on Ahmad Yassin's death, Sharon also signed off on the deaths of hundreds more Israelis and Palestinians. By doing this, Sharon has enraged every Palestinian. Around 300,000 people attended Yassin's funeral in Gaza City. The number would have been higher if Gaza City was connected to the rest of the Strip. Other cities around the occupied territories saw similar demonstrations. Hamas, the organization founded by Yassin, has promised, along with every other Palestinian resistance group, that it will reply with "a volcano of anger and revenge." Reports said that the streets in Israel were almost empty as the Israeli people and their government know how well Hamas keeps its promises. Sharon has proved once again that he is a killer and a mass murderer. And once again he will cause death and destruction for both the Palestinian and Israeli people. Anwar Arafat Springville I know this letter is somewhat opinionated and possibly bias, and I have to allow that, just as I have to allow that we, the large majority of us, have anal orifices as well... But, without making judgements and choosing sides in a chicken-and-egg debate, there is large part of this article ( I am somewhat at a loss here to find the words that express this correlation...he) mirrors my feelings-my cynicism-of those who make the choice-and certainly have the power-to take another's life... posted by David | 3/28/2004 09:45:00 AM |
