2/16/2002 Hello, and welcome...As you can probably guess, I live in the Rockies..Colorado Rockies to be exact.. I and my family have for 9 years, and I LOVE it. It is interesting way of life, some would consider it hard-too hard... I think loving Nature and being willing to accept Her whims and moods is a big part of loving to live here... ..It is a marriage of sorts..Taking the white-outs and -40 degree temperatures along with the pristine, robin's-egg blue skies, temperatures that rarely reach more than 80 degrees, the air that is so thin that it is a natural high..(at 8,500 ft )...walking for hours, if you wish, without seeing another soul..the mountains out my living room window are humbling, if nothing else...Devil's Thumb.. capped in white most of the year..When the wind is snarling outside, pipes freezing...sometimes you have to have a little bit of a death wish to get out in it...you know why the oldtimers called it Devil's Thumb..but then, on the days when the sky is clear..sun radiating off the snow, you are reminded that the Devil and God used to be very close... posted by David | 2/16/2002 01:14:00 PM |
